Season 20 is all about putting the power in players’ hands. Custom Seas introduces a suite of tools that enable you to bring your own Sea of Thieves game ideas to life, setting up unique modes to challenge your crewmates and create content in ways that previously wouldn’t have been possible. Alongside this, a shake-up of the Seasonal rewards structure promises clearer, more reliable ways of ensuring your time on the seas always feels valuable!

Custom Seas

Within Custom Seas, each player is the master of their own fate. Through an array of menus and switches, Session Owners can adjust the world around them to create entirely new ways of playing the game and bringing their friends together to face bespoke challenges. Whether it’s setting up crews, spawning in foes to fight or fast travelling across the map in the blink of an eye, Custom Seas puts you at the helm of your own adventure in all aspects of play.

**Track Your Progress This Season **

While Season 20 does not follow previous Seasons’ Act structure, there are still Seasonal Deeds themed around Custom Seas to be completed! Check them off to earn a bump in Seasonal Renown (awarded when you return to High Seas) and the ‘Legendary Beginnings’ Painting, and complete them all to unlock the Custom Crafter Sails to commemorate your accomplishments.

Changes to Seasonal Rewards

Season 20 also introduces changes to how you earn rewards during your adventures. The actions that award Seasonal Renown have been made clearer, with a focus on active participation in the game rather than passive sources.

At the same time, the former 100 levels of Renown are being condensed to 50, split across 10 tiers, each tier giving you the opportunity to pick up Doubloons, Voyages and a Cosmetic Choice offering one of three Pirate Emporium items to keep. At the end of the track waits the Star Prize, a carefully crafted cosmetic unlike any other…

Season Pass Star Prize

There are rewards to be earned throughout the Season Pass, including Voyages and a bountiful purse of Doubloons to save for the next Bilge Rats Weekender! Every five levels, you’ll also get to choose between three hand-picked items from the Pirate Emporium archives. The final reward for completing each Season Pass is a very special Star Prize – for Season 20, that’s the animated Greed’s Reach Cutlass!

**Season Pass Premium Tier **

In place of the former Plunder Pass, you now have the option to purchase the Season Pass: Premium Tier. As with the free Season Pass available to everyone, the Premium Tier consists of 50 levels to be earned throughout a Season, and grants further unlockable rewards of Ancient Coins along with a new and exclusive ship set.

In Season 20, owners of the Season Pass: Premium Tier can pick up the full Sirens’ Splendour ship set including Collector’s Figurehead and Sails, and 1000 Ancient Coins to spend in the Pirate Emporium or reinvest in the Premium Tier next Season. Premium Tier holders also get a handy boost to their Renown earnings throughout the Season, making it a little easier to hit that maximum level.

Boost Your Seasonal Progress

We understand that even the most dedicated pirates don’t always have as much time to spend earning rewards as they might like, which is why it’s now possible to purchase Season Pass levels. These make it easier to reach maximum Renown before a Season ends, and to speed your journey towards the Star Prize! But we also want to ensure that players still take time to experience Season 20 and savour a sense of natural progression, so purchasable Season Pass levels are limited to a maximum of 10 per Season.

Explore a vast open world filled with unspoiled islands and underwater kingdoms. Take on quests to hunt for lost loot, forge a reputation with the Trading Companies and battle foes from Phantoms and Ocean Crawlers to Megalodons and the mighty Kraken. Try your hand at fishing, make maps to your own buried treasure or choose from hundreds of other optional goals and side-quests!

With each Season bringing in new game features every three months alongside regular in-game Events, Sea of Thieves is a service-based game that’s still growing and evolving.
